End of the Year Challenges

End of the Year Challenges (fitness and weight loss) can catch you off guard and suck you in if you are not keeping your eye on the prize. The prize being the goals you set for yourself around this time last year. 

End-of-the-year challenges (in my opinion) create a sense of desperation and unrealistic expectations about lifestyle changes and what we say we really want for ourselves.  

In this video I discuss Hyperbolic Discounting a term used to describe the tendency we have as people to increasingly choose smaller-lesser rewards over the larger-later reward.  Or what I like to refer to as making decisions based on what you want now in the moment vs what you say you really want long term.

I hope this helps you stick to the plans and goals you have yourself in the long term. And to avoid desperate attempts for that quick fix approach that is often the aim with a lot of these End of The Year Challenges that startup.
